Integration of TOPSIS and Geostatistical Technique for Soil Quality Assessment under Different Land Uses: A Case Study

This study aims to assess the soil quality under different land uses by utilizing technique for order preference similarity ideal solution method (TOPSIS) and geostatistical Technique in Northern part of Sohag Governorate, Egypt. Various parameters such as sand, silt, clay content, CEC, ESP OC, ECe, pH, CaCO3 were determined. Afterward, geostatistics approach using ordinary kriging interpolation semivariogram was applied produce a spatialized detailed map each parameter. Spherical, Exponential, Gaussian, J-Bessel models used define spatial variability properties based on RMS, MSE, RMSSE. Based TOPSIS method, index (SQI) its ranking use types area calculated. The results SQI ranged from 38.75% 55.82% 27.53% 52.72%, 5.75% 26.73% old cultivated, new desert soil, respectively. classified into three regions. first has fair covers 56.48% (403.91 km2) total geographical (TGA). soils this region are located mainly cultivated some ones. second observed newly reclaimed extended over an about 27.75% (198.45 km2). These have low values favorable studied indicators, leading negative effects that defined poor. third is very poor quality, 15.77% (112.78 TGA, with beneficial high non-beneficial indicators. Finally, indicate integration allow accurate practical assessment SQI.
